Kota, known as the "Education Hub" of India, is a prominent destination for NEET and JEE aspirants. It boasts a plethora of NEET UG coaching institutes with countless success stories over the years. Every year, it attracts thousands of students from all over the country who enrol in coaching institutes in the city to prepare for IIT-JEE and NEET. It's crucial to understand the fees structure, available scholarships, and the cost of living. The cost of coaching and living in Kota, which is otherwise not a metropolitan area, can range from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per year. This article provides a comprehensive guide to help you make an informed decision.
While the business of coaching itself has led to furious debate, over the years, Kota’s coaching institutes have produced many successful candidates who qualified NEET and other major entrance exams. One or more of its institutes is sure to have representation among the NEET “toppers” each year.
The institutes are spread all over the city but the main areas are Talwandi, Vigyan Nagar, Indraprastha Industrial Area (IPIA), Indra Vihar and Jawahar Nagar.
These are some of the best-known coaching institutes for NEET in Kota and the cost of different programmes there. Nearly all institutes offer scholarships or even free courses to students who have scored very high marks in Class 11 or Class 12 or have done well in the scholarship exams that the institutes themselves hold. Some provide scholarships to students who get more than 90% or 95% marks in their board exams. Therefore, the fees listed below may be different for those on scholarships. Some coaching institutes also offer special deals for students who were unable to clear the NEET on their first attempt and are trying again. The longest programmes typically last two years.
Almost every coaching institute also has deals with local schools that allow students to enroll and sit for exams without insisting on attendance. The schools cost extra and are paid for by students.
Known colloquially as “Allen Kota”, it is one of the best-known coaching centres in Kota. They offer different programmes depending on what level of education the candidate has completed. It coaches children from Class 9 onwards.
Along with regular online classes, Allen has also started digital classes. Allen digital classes offer two types of courses – “Nurture”, a two-year course for students moving from Class 10 to Class 11, and “Enthusiast”, a one-year course for students moving from Class 11 to Class 12.

Many of the institutes have hostel facilities but these are usually available only to toppers. The selection is based on academic merit.
A majority of students studying in Kota prefer to stay as paying guests (PG) or in hostels in areas like Talwandi, Vigyan Nagar, Mahaveer Nagar, Rajeev Gandhi Nagar and IPIA . Most of the PGs and hostels provide food, laundry and room services. However, those who do not want to take food from their PG/hostel can eat outside.
The table below shows the expenses incurred by students when living in Kota.
Particulars | Amount (In Rs) |
Basic PG/Hostel Charges | 8,000-10,000 (per month) |
Premium PG/Hostel Charges | 15,000-18,000 (per month) |
Expenses on Books, Notebooks and Study Materials (Books are one-time purchases) | 12,000-15,000 (per annum) |
Tiffin Service (if food not taken from the PG/Hostel) | 2,200-3,000 (per month) |
Mess food (if food not from the PG/Hostel) | 3,000-4,000 (per month) |
Entertainment and Miscellaneous | 800-1,500 (per weekend) |
In the premium category of residences, rooms are bigger and come with one or more facilities including air-conditioner, geyser, refrigerator, snacks, laundry and cleaning services.
Those who stay in rented flats are mostly from affluent families because rents are very high and additional expenses like expenses on electricity, water, laundry, room cleaning etc. are also incurred.
Food can be from the hostel mess or tiffin or mess services outside.
A flat with a single room costs around Rs 8,000 - Rs 10,000 per month and flats with two or three rooms cost around Rs 15,000 - Rs 20,000 per month. So, most students prefer to stay in groups so that the expenses are shared. The average expense of a student living in a rented flat is in the range of Rs 13,000 - Rs 15,000 per month.

Hello aspirant,
For NEET, you must select your central government category, not the state category. Jaat from Uttar Pradesh is counted as General in the central list because this caste is not included in the Central OBC list. Even though you may fall under OBC at the state level, NEET uses only the central list for reservation. So, in the NEET application, you should fill General category to avoid any issues during counselling or document verification.

Hello aspirant,
With a rank of 1760 in the NTRUHS PG management quota (B-category) and belonging to the AU region, getting a clinical seat is possible but mostly in the mid or lower-demand branches. High-demand clinical courses like Radiology, Dermatology and General Medicine generally close at much lower ranks, but seats in branches such as ENT, Opthalmology, Psychiatry, Anesthesia or General Surgery may still be available depending on this year's vacancy movement during later rounds. Keep track of round - wise allotments for clearer chances.
