PGIMER Seats and Reservation 2020– The medical graduates who wish to get admission in PGIMER, Chandigarh must be aware of the seats and reservation of PGIMER 2020 for January session. The conducting authority has released the revised PGIMER seat matrix 2020 for round two of counseling to be conducted on January 10, 2020. The total number of vacant seats for round two is 121, according to the official notice. As per the new PGIMER 2020 seats and reservation for January session, the exam has been conducted for admission to 207 MD/MS seats offered under 20 specialties.

In the PGIMER seats and reservation 2020 criteria, a certain number of seats will be reserved for the benefit of candidates who belong to underprivileged sections of the society. Aspirants who qualify the PGIMER exam will be granted admission on the basis of combined and category-wise merit list, which will be prepared on the basis of PGIMER 2020 seats and reservation. The number of candidates called for offline PGIMER counselling will be thrice the number of seats available for admission. It is done in order to compensate for absentee candidates. PGIMER 2020 Seat Reservation Criteria

PGIMER, Chandigarh has set criteria for the reservation of seats of PGIMER 2020 for the different categories based on which the seat matrix is prepared. To get admission under the below-mentioned categories, the candidates will be required to furnish the certificate (as per the official format) in support of their claim which has been issued by the competent authority. The percentage of seats reserved for various categories in PGIMER 2020 has been described below.

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): Of the total seats, 27% of seats have been reserved for candidates belonging to OBC category. Such candidates, however, need to fulfil the minimum admission requirements of PGIMER 2020 i.e., candidates need to obtain 50th percentile in the entrance test in order to be included in the merit list prepared for the OBC quota.

  • Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste (ST/SC): About 22.5% seats approximately are reserved for the ST/SC candidates. In order to secure admission under these categories, candidates need to score 50th percentile in the entrance which is the minimum admission requirement for PGIMER 2020.

  • Candidates working/have worked in Rural Areas: PGIMER Chandigarh reserves 5% of the total seats for candidates who are working or have rendered their services in any rural area (with a population less than 5000) for a period of at least two years until June 30 for the January session.

  • Persons with Disability: 3% of the total seats are reserved for candidates with benchmark disabilities under the PGIMER seat and reservation criteria 2020.

  • Sponsored Candidates: Certain seats through PGIMER 2020 are to be reserved for deputed/sponsored candidates nominated by institutions under Central/State Government, autonomous bodies of the Central Government or MCI recognized Public sector colleges. Such candidates also need to qualify in the entrance test and will be considered for admission only if the following criteria are fulfilled:

  1. Candidates are employees and must have worked for at least three years with the sponsoring authority as on or before December 31 for the January session.

  2. Candidates, after completing training with PGIMER Chandigarh will work for a period of five years in the field of training received with the concerned sponsoring authority.

  3. The sponsoring authority will bear all the financial implications of the candidate during the training period at PGIMER Chandigarh.

PGIMER Seat and Reservation 2020 – Important Features

  • PGIMER Chandigarh will prepare two types of merit lists – combined and category-wise as per the PGIMER 2020 seat and reservation rules.

  • Candidates from reserved categories securing a higher order of merit in the combined merit list will be able to compete for the Open/General category seats.

  • Candidates from the various categories also need to secure the minimum qualifying percentile required for admission purposes.

when will be the second entrance exam

The second exam for PGIMER will be in 4th week of November 2020, the registration will start from 4th week of October 2020.

Result will be announced in December.

These dates may vary, so you need to wait till may-june for the official declaration of exam and registration dates.

no, bds students are not eligible for pgimer exam,

the eligibility criteria is Candidates are required to have a degree in MBBS from an regonized institution which is affiliated by the Medical Council of India (MCI). also candidate need to have a registration certificate by smc and must complete the 1 year internship before the date assigned by pgimer.

Yes. For each round of counselling the authority will release an official notification mentioning the rank of category-wise candidates to be called for PGIMER 2020 counselling session. Medical graduates shortlisted for PGI counselling must report at the venue along with the relevant documents for verification purposes.

Admission to PGIMER is done through two sessions - January and July. A total of 207 seats will be filled across 20 departments in the disciplines of Master of Surgery (MS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) through PGIMER 2020.

now currently the the addmission process of January session is going on.

Last year approximately a total of 2 lakhs students had appeared for the examination. It is estimated that this year around 1.5 lakhs students (in total) might appear for the examination.
