The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will release the seat matrix for round 2 NEET counselling 2025 on September 3, 2025. The NEET counselling round 2 seat matrix for 2025 will be released at the official website, mcc.nic.in in a PDF form. The round 2 NEET 2025 seat matrix includes the vacant seats remaining after the conclusion of the round 1 counselling, newly approved seats, and virtually vacant seats that are held by candidates from round 1 who have opted for upgradation.

Where round 1 allocates fresh seats based on the initial matrix, the round 2 seat matrix of NEET counselling focuses on reallocating remaining seats. The NEET counselling round 2 seat matrix includes the following seats:
Clear vacancies: This includes the seats left unfilled from NEET counselling round 1 due to non-reporting, resignations, or disqualifications of the students.
Virtual vacancies: These are the seats held by candidates from round 1 who opt for upgrades. These seats in round 2 become available if the candidate moves to a better option.
Newly added seats: Many times, NMC approves additional seats due to the addition of new colleges and seats with additional permission. If these additional seats are added after the round 1 NEET counselling, they are included under the round 2 NEET seat matrix.
MCC releases the total seats for NEET counselling before starting the round 1 counselling. The complete NEET seat matrix 2025 is provided below.

The total seats available for the round 2 counselling of NEET 2025 will be filled according to the following reservation criteria.
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) - 27%
Scheduled Caste (SC) - 15%
Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 7.5%
Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) - 10%
Persons with Disabilities (PwD) - 5% (horizontal reservation across categories)

Yes , the NEST exam is generally considered tougher than NEET as it requires more focus towards conceptual understanding and thinking , while NEET generally tests NCERT based knowledge where as in NEST it requires you to have deeper clarity in Physics , Chemistry , Biology and Mathematics.
