The merger of nursing, allied and veterinary exam with NEET is beneficial in several aspects such as:
Single entrance exam for multiple courses: One of the biggest advantages is that students do not have to appear for multiple entrance tests. The NEET result can be used for admission to several health science programmes and reducing exam stress. As the exam follows only the NEET exam pattern, candidates do not have preparation pressure.
Reduced financial pressure: Appearing for different nursing, allied veterinary entrance exams requires multiple application fees. Candidates have to spend on different preparation materials and have to pay travel costs to appear for the test. Using NEET as a common entrance exam, candidates have less financial burden.
Uniform evaluation process: Since NEET is conducted by a single authority (NTA), it follows a uniform evaluation process. Chances of irregularities that may occur in smaller exams are reduced.
National level selection: Since the authority releases a single NEET merit list, this allows students to compete for seats across different states.
The merger of BSc nursing, allied and veterinary exams with NEET 2026 comes with some challenges which can be checked below.
Increased competition: The merger of nursing, allied and veterinary exams with NEET scores will lead to increased competition. Students preparing for MBBS will dominate the merit list, leaving fewer opportunities for those targeting nursing or allied courses.
With the merger of nursing, allied and veterinary exams with NEET, the number of candidates registering for NEET 2026 is expected to increase. Earlier, many students preparing for BSc nursing, BVSc and allied health science courses appeared for separate entrance tests conducted at state authorities or universities. However, as the institutions will now consider NEET scores for admission, it is expected that a larger number of students will register for NEET 2026. The expansion of NEET’s role beyond MBBS and BS admissions could lead to noticeable rise in the NEET 2026 registrations.
