Several factors determine the passing marks for NEET 2025, which are described below.
The difficulty of the NEET 2025 question paper significantly impacts the passing marks. A tougher exam, as reported for 2025, tends to lower the passing marks, as fewer candidates are expected to achieve high scores.
NEET 2025 has seen a slight decrease in the total number of candidates in NEET 2025, which could reduce competition and lower the cutoff. In 2024, over 24 lakh candidates appeared, contributing to a higher NEET cutoff.
The overall performance of candidates affects the percentile-based passing marks. If fewer candidates score high marks, the qualifying marks decrease. Experts suggest that the highest score in NEET 2025 may not reach 720 due to the exam’s difficulty.
With approximately 1,17,950 MBBS seats and 27,868 BDS seats available, the number of seats influences competition. An increase in total NEET UG seats for 2025 may slightly lower the passing marks.
Reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST, PWD) have lower qualifying percentiles, resulting in lower passing marks compared to the General category.
