Foreign Medical Graduate Exam, commonly known as FMGE, is a national level entrance exam conducted in the month of June and December every year. This year, FMGE 2017 June session is scheduled to be conducted on June 12 and 13, 2017 at various test centres across the country. FMGE 2017 online registrations has begun from April 13, 2017, while the last date to fill application form is May 13, 2017. Overview of FMGE 2017 June Session



Purpose of Examination

An Indian Citizen or Overseas Citizen of India possessing a Primary Medical qualification awarded by any Medical institution outside of India who is desirous of getting Provisional or Permanent registration with State Medical Council.

According to the official brochure of FMGE 2017, “An Indian citizen/Overseas citizen of India possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after March 15, 2002 shall have to qualify a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority for that purpose as per the provisions of section 13 of the Act”.


However, a candidate seeking provisional or permanent registration shall not have to qualify the Screening Test if he/she holds an Under Graduate medical qualification from Australia/Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America and the holder thereof has also been awarded a Post Graduate medical qualification in Australia/Canada/New Zealand/ United Kingdom/United States of America and has been recognized for enrolment as medical practitioner in that country.


FMGE Important Dates 2017

The examination schedule of FMGE 2017 has been declared by the exam conducting authority NBE on July 15, 2017. As per the schedule, the entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted on June 12 to 13, 2017. Candidates are advised to check below for the detailed important dates of FMGE 2017.

FMGE Eligibility Criteria 2017

Candidates who wish to appear in FMGE 2017 June session can check below for the eligibility criteria as declared by the exam conducting authority, NBE. Candidates failing to meet the eligibility requirements will not be given admission under any circumstance.

  • Candidates must be a citizen of India and possesses any primary medical qualification, either whose name and the institution awarding it are included in the World Directory of Medical Schools, published by the World Health Organisation; or which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned to be a recognised qualification for enrolment as medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated

  • Candidates must have obtained the Primary Medical Qualification is on or before November 30, 2016

FMGE Application Form 2017

The online application forms of FMGE 2017 has been released on April 13, while the last date to fill applications is May 13, 2017Candidates are advised to read the official brochure of FMGE 2017 in order to understand the eligibility criteria.


The requisite application fee for FMGE 2017 June session is Rs.5500, which has to be remitted online through payment gateway via Credit Card/Debit Card and Internet Banking.

FMGE Exam Pattern 2017

FMGE 2017 June session will be conducted in a computer based mode. The question booklet will be based on the curriculum of MBBS programme. Candidates can check below for the highlights of NEET exam pattern:

  • FMGE 2017 June session will consist of two papers, one in morning session ad other in afternoon session

  • There will be a total of 300 questions, wherein each paper will consist of 150 questions

  • The weightage of MCQ’s in each specialty will vary and examination authority, NBE has right to alter/vary/amend the marks of the question

  • There will not be a system of negative marking

FMGE Admit Card 2017

Candidates who has successfully registered for FMGE 2017 June session can download their admit card in the month of June, 2017. NBE will also send the SMS alerts to candidate’s registered mobile numbers and email ids. The admit card of FMGE 2017 has consisted of candidate’s name, examination centre address etc.


FMGE Result 2017

The result of FMGE 2017 June session will be declared in online mode on July 15, 2017. The result will be declared in the form of score cards. The score cards of FMGE 2017 will consist of candidate’s details along with the marks and ranks secured.


FMGE Cut off 2017

The cut off score is the minimum qualifying marks a candidate needs to secure in order to qualify the entrance exam. As per the cut off criteria of FMGE 2017, candidate need to score at least 150 marks in each paper, i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
