APAAR stands for Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry. It is a 12-digit code which acts as a digital ID card for the students of India. It is an initiative of the Indian Government under ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ to help students to store, manage and access all their academic records. Candidates wishing to appear for the NEET 2025 exam must have an APAAR ID for the registration purpose.
NTA has made it mandatory for the candidates to have an APAAR ID. Various purposes of APAAR ID for NEET exam are:
Smooth registration process: Introduction of APAAR ID in NEET 2025 simplifies the registration process by centralizing candidate details under one unique ID.
Authenticity: Having an APAAR ID ensures that the candidate’s identity is verified using Aadhaar card details (which is a government approved ID).
Prevents duplicate applications: NEET registration 2025 with APAAR ID eliminates the risk of multiple registrations and also the frauds.
Easy data management: APAAR ID enables efficient management of candidate’s NEET 2025 application forms during the exam procedures.
To obtain an APAAR ID, candidates must update their Aadhaar details for NEET 2025. Creating an APAAR ID for NEET 2025 registration, candidates are required to complete a simple process through their schools. The steps involved in APAAR ID generation for NEET 2025 registration are mentioned below.
Students are required to visit the school to confirm and validate their personal and demographic information such as name, date of birth, gender and address.
Consent from parents or guardians is mandatory if the student is under the age of 18.
After verifying the demographic details, the student's identity is authenticated through the school’s authentication process.
Once all details are successfully verified, the APAAR ID is created and stored in DigiLocker for safe and convenient online access.
To generate an APAAR ID for the registration process of NEET 2025, the following details are mandatory.
Unique student identifier (PEN of student)
Date of birth
Gender
Mobile number
Mother’s name
Father’s name
Name as per Aadhaar
Aadhaar number
Once the APAAR ID is created, it is automatically added to the student’s DigiLocker account. The virtual APAAR ID Card can be accessed in the "Issued Documents" section of DigiLocker. Students can also track the status of their APAAR ID generation through the UDISE+ Portal under the APAAR Module, which shows a list of students along with their APAAR ID statuses. If needed, students can ask their school authorities to check the status of their APAAR ID creation.
