NEET UG 2026 result: Tie-Breaking criteria

In cases where two or more candidates have obtained the same score, NEET tie-breaking criteria is applied to get an inter-se-merit of All India Rank in NEET result. Medical aspirants can check the tie-breaking criteria used in the NEET merit list 2026 below.

• Biology marks: Aspirants who have scored higher in Biology will be preferred over others in NEET 2026 result.
• Chemistry marks: If the above criteria do not work, then aspirants who have scored higher in Chemistry will be given preference.
• Physics marks: If the tie still persists, candidates with higher marks in Physics will be placed in a higher position.
• Number of incorrect answers: If the tie is still there, students with less number of incorrect answers in the complete test will be allotted a better rank.
• The number of incorrect answers in particular subjects: If the tie still exists, then the students with less number of incorrect answers in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, respectively, will be given preference.
• Random process: At last, the tie will be resolved through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee.

What After NEET Result 2026?

After the announcement of NEET result 2026, qualified candidates have to participate in the counselling process. The NEET counselling for 15% AIQ seats is conducted by the MCC whereas respective state authorities conduct counselling for 85% state quota seats. Candidates have to register and fill and lock their prefernces within specified dates. The seat allotment is done based on the NEET rank, choices filled, availability of seats and reservation rules. Candidates who are granted seats in NEET counselling 2026, have to report at the allotted institute for document verification and admission process.

Is Re-evaluation/Re-checking Allowed In NEET?

No, re-evaluation or re-checking of the NEET UG result is not allowed. The NTA does not entertain requests for re-evaluation of answer sheets after the declaration of the result. The final scores are prepared based on the NEET final answer key, and no changes are made once the result is announced.
