The National Medical Commission increased a total of 5,950 MBBS seats for the 2025-26 academic session. This increase is due to the renewal of seats in pre-existing colleges and the opening of new colleges. Of these 5,950 additional seats, government medical colleges accounted for 2,322 seats, while private MBBS colleges added 3,628 seats. Even though the total number of government MBBS seats is now 62,807 compared to 60,893 private seats, it is evident that private MBBS seats are increasing at a much faster rate than government seats.

Hello,

Usually, after the NEET PG exam date is announced, the gap between the announcement and the actual exam is about 4 to 8 weeks .

In most past years:

  • The exam notice comes 1–2 months before the exam.

  • Sometimes the gap can be shorter, around 3–4 weeks , if the schedule is tight.

  • It can also be longer in some years, but 1–2 months is the common pattern .

This timeline helps students finish revision and complete registration on time
