About JIPMER MBBS 2019

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) 2019 is a national level exam which is held for 200 MBBS seats available at JIPMER, Puducherry (150 seats) and JIPMER, Karaikal (50 seats). JIPMER, an Institute of National Importance, conducts the entrance exam for the MBBS course annually in online mode i.e. as a computer-based test. The entrance exam of JIPMER MBBS 2019 will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. JIPMER, Puducherry will hold the entrance exam on June 2 for the academic year 2019-20. After qualifying the exam, a counselling process is held post which candidates can take admission to the course. 

JIPMER MBBS 2019 is one of the three medical exams conducted for admission to MBBS course, the other two being AIIMS MBBS and NEET UG. It is expected that as many as 2 lakh aspirants will take JIPMER MBBS 2019. The entrance exam of JIPMER MBBS 2019 will be conducted in approximately 120 cities.

JIPMER MBBS 2019 Eligibility Criteria

JIPMER MBBS eligibility criteria 2019 refer to the basic requirements that a candidate must fulfil in order to be deemed eligible for the exam. The prerequisites to appear in JIPMER MBBS 2019 entrance exam can be seen below:-

  • Candidates taking the JIPMER MBBS exam must be Indian nationals/Overseas Citizens of India/National Residents of India.

  • Candidates must attain the age of 17 years on or before December 31 in the academic year they are taking the exam.

  • In order to fulfil JIPMER MBBS 2019 eligibility criteria, candidates must have studied Biology/Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry with practical tests in these tests in Class 12 from a recognised board. Apart from these subjects, English should be studied as a core subject in Class 12. NRI and OCI candidates must show a certificate approved from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi stating that the qualifying exam is equivalent to Class 12 exam.

  • Candidates must have passed in all the above mentioned subjects individually and should also score at least a 60% score in Biology/Biotechnology, Chemistry and Physics combined. Candidates belonging to reserved categories or PwD categories must score a minimum of 50%.

When preparing for JIPMER MBBS 2019 entrance, candidates must note the JIPMER MBBS preparation tips 2019 which will be helpful in scoring good marks.

  • Time Management:- Unlike the other two medical entrances, NEET UG and AIIMS MBBS, JIPMER MBBS exam is held for 2.5 hours and the total number of questions are 200. In NEET, candidates do get 1 minute for solving a question while in AIIMS a little over one minute is taken as the average for solving one question. Therefore, time management becomes really important while appearing for JIPMER MBBS exam.    

  • Know the sections:- Apart from the science section comprising Physics, Chemistry and Biology, JIPMER question paper 2019 also includes two sections- English Language and Comprehension and Logical & Quantitative Reasoning. Candidates should concentrate on these two sections as well since they carry 20 marks.

  • Understand the syllabus:- JIPMER, Puducherry has not prescribed the syllabus for the entrance exam. Although, they do mention that the State Board and CBSE syllabus for Classes 11 and 12 will be taken into consideration. Candidates preparing for JIPMER must check the various state boards syllabi as well.  

  • Assertion-Reason Question:- JIPMER MBBS aspirants must familiarise themselves with assertion reason based questions along with the multiple choice questions. These questions require a thorough knowledge of basic concepts which can be gained from NCERT textbooks of Classes 11 and 12.

JIPMER MBBS 2019 Exam Pattern

JIPMER MBBS exam pattern 2019 acquaints candidates with the different attributes of the question paper like medium, mode, and type of questions. JIPMER MBBS 2019 is likely to be held in two shifts namely morning and afternoon shift. The question paper, displayed on the computer screen, comprises 200 questions which are assertion-reason based or multiple choice questions. The marking scheme of JIPMER MBBS 2019 involves negative marking for incorrect responses, therefore, 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Questions which are kept under marked for review section and are answered will be considered as answered. 4 marks will be given for the responses which are correct and 0 marks will be given for unanswered questions. The authorities will use normalization procedure to determine the cut off percentile calculated on the basis of raw scores of the candidates. The JIPMER MBBS question paper 2019 will be only prepared in English language.

JIPMER MBBS 2019 Admit Card

The admit card is the entry pass to the JIPMER examination centre. The candidates who will be able to download their JIPMER MBBS admit card 2019 after its release, most likely in the third week of May, will be considered eligible to take the JIPMER entrance exam. The admit card will be accessible by submitting the User ID created while submitting the application form and password. JIPMER MBBS 2019 hall ticket will exhibit details like name, birth date, photo, signature, exam city and centre. The admit card is a mandatory document that has to be shown at the time of examination as without the hall ticket candidates will not be allowed to enter the test centre under any circumstances.

JIPMER MBBS 2019 Result

The result of JIPMER MBBS 2019 will be issued after a week of the conduction of the entrance exam. The result, released in the form of merit list and individual scorecard, will be made available in online mode only. The regulatory body will issue the category wise merit lists which contains the name of candidates who have qualified the exam while the overall merit lists include all the candidates who have appeared for the exam. 

JIPMER MBBS merit list 2019 will reflect All India Rank, roll no., name, birth date, overall percentile, incorrect responses, sectional percentile and status of eligibility for the counselling process. The percentile score will determine whether the candidates have qualified the exam or not. The scores of the candidates are not revealed by the conducting body. The individual scorecard can be viewed by entering user ID and password.

JIPMER MBBS 2019 Cutoff

JIPMER MBBS cut off 2019 is stipulated on the basis of the relative performance of all the candidates. JIPMER releases the minimum required percentile to qualify the exam even before the exam is conducted. As per the current rules, unreserved category candidates are required to secure 50th percentile and PwD candidates belonging to unreserved category must secure 45th percentile. Reserved category candidates and PwD candidates coming under reserved categories must secure a minimum of 40th percentile to be considered qualified. As the JIPMER MBBS 2019 exam is conducted in two shifts, a normalisation procedure is used for the determination of the percentile of each candidate.

JIPMER MBBS 2019 Counselling

JIPMER MBBS 2019 counselling process is held in three rounds and in offline mode. Candidates are asked to report to the allotted centre on the assigned dates. A final counselling round is conducted depending on the vacancy of seats. Before the commencement of a counselling round, the authorities will invite candidates by publishing a notice on the official website of JIPMER MBBS 2019. For each category, the number of candidates will be eight times the number of seats available for that particular category.
