The NEET cutoff 2026 refers to the minimum marks that must be secured by the candidates to qualify for the medical entrance examination. The NEET 2026 cutoff varies every year for different categories. Candidates securing marks equal or above to the NEET 2026 cutoff are eligible to participate in the counselling process. It is of two types:
Qualifying Cutoff: The qualifying NEET cutoff is released by the NTA with the declaration of the result. Candidates securing marks equal or above to the NEET qualifying cutoff are eligible for the admission to medical, dental, AYUSH, veterinary, and nursing courses.
Admission Cutoff: The NEET admission cutoff refers to the rank at which admission is granted at a particular course through NEET UG. The admission cutoff is derived after the conclusion of the counselling process conducted by the MCC.
The cutoff of NEET 2026 in the form of qualifying percentile and scores for each category will be provided below, once available.
| Category | Cut off percentile | Cut off marks |
| UR/EWS | 50th Percentile | 715–213 |
| OBC | 40th Percentile | 212–177 |
| SC | 40th Percentile | 212–177 |
| ST | 40th Percentile | 212–177 |
| SC/OBC - PwD | 40th percentile | 193 - 177 |
| ST - PwD | 40th Percentile | 191 - 178 |
The NEET cut off is determined by the following factors for MBBS/BDS admissions:
The cutoff gets affected with the NEET exam difficulty level. If the exam is difficult, lesser number of candidates score high marks leading to a lowe cutoff.
When more number of studnets appear for the NEET exam, competition increases. The increased number of candidates appearing for the exam pushes the NEET cutoff 2026 on the higher side.
The total number of MBBS, BDS, and other medical seats available across India also impacts the cutoff. An increase in NEET seats reduces competition slightly, while limited seats can lead to higher cutoff marks.
Category-wise reservation for General, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD candidates affects the cutoff. Each category has a separate cutoff based on seat allocation and competition within that category.
Using the previous year's cutoff of NEET UG, students can get an idea of the competition level. The category-wise previous year NEET cutoff for both qualification and admission is provided below.
| Category | Qualifying Percentile | Cutoff Score Range |
|---|---|---|
| UR / EWS | 50th Percentile | 686 – 144 |
| OBC / SC / ST | 40th Percentile | 143 – 113 |
| UR / EWS - PwD | 45th Percentile | 143 – 127 |
| OBC / SC / ST - PwD | 40th Percentile | 126 – 113 |
